About Pack 668

WHO is Pack 668?

  • Pack 668 is made up of approximately 40 boys in grades K-5, along with their families.
  • Pack 668 invites girls and their families to join us now that girls are a part of Cub Scouts (as of 2018).
  • Pack 668's leadership are all volunteers with children in our Pack.
  • Pack 668's Scouts primarily attend Lakeridge Elementary and Island Park Elementary but we welcome anyone to join us - if you have friends in our pack or if we are a fit for what you want out of your Scouting adventures then join us.

WHAT is Pack 668?

  • A "pack" is the most local unit of Cub Scouts.
  • Pack 668 is a Cub Scout pack in the Cascade / New South District of the Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Pack 668's charter organization is the Rotary Club of Mercer Island, an organization with no religious affiliation.
  • Pack 668 is organized into Dens by grade level.
    • Kindergarten = Lion Den
    • 1st Grade = Tiger Den
    • 2nd Grade = Wolf Den
    • 3rd Grade = Bear Den
    • 4th Grade = Webelo I Den
    • 5th Grade = Webelo II / Arrow of Light Den

WHEN does Pack 668 meet?

  • Pack 668 usually meets once a month as a pack.  Pack meetings host some of our major events, such as the Pinewood Derby.
  • Pack 668 dens usually meet individually once a month and typically follow activities and events recommended by the Scout Handbook for rank advancement within that den's level.
  • Pack 668 meets regularly from September through June.
  • Pack 668 holds additional events, such as campouts and hikes mixed in throughout the non-summer months.
  • Pack 668 limits summer activities to optional activities that are not central to rank advancement.

WHERE can I find Pack 668?

  • Pack 668's Mercer Island footprint tilts toward the South End of the Island.  But it's a small island and you'll no doubt know/meet people you have/will run across in other kids activities.
  • Pack 668 holds most indoor pack meetings in Lakeridge Elementary's multipurpose room.  But we also meet at Luther Burbank so we're all over the island.
  • Pack 668 will hike or snowshoe the Cascades, typically somewhere in the I-90 corridor.
  • Pack 668 is in your Mercer Island community!

WHY Pack 668?

  • Pack 668 respects all of the competing activities for kid & family time, so we try to keep our activities both simple & fun.
  • Pack 668 hikes, snowshoes, goes camping, goes to camp, races Pinewood Derby cars, races Raingutter Regatta boats, races Space Derby ships, fires rockets, does service projects, makes Scouts more capable, makes Scouts more confident, and makes Scouts better citizens.

HOW to join Pack 668?

  • Kids can join scouting at any time and do not need to start from the very beginning.
  • Attend a Pack 668 pack meeting, den meeting, and/or event.
  • Compare Pack 668 (and the den your Scout would be a part of) to the other Mercer Island Cub Scout pack, Pack 624 (and their corresponding den).  Consider what is the best fit for your Scout.  What's most important is that your Scout has fun and gets the experiences that help him or her grow.
